Please click here to find the latest VMS Legislative Bulletin from March 13, 2018.
The Vermont Legislature is nearing the half-way mark of the 2018 Legislative session and the VMS Policy team has prepared this VMS Legislative Bulletin. Below you’ll find summaries of legislation that VMS has engaged in so far this session on behalf of the state’s physicians, grouped into five categories:
- Health Financing/Health Reform
- Mental Health
- Practice of Medicine
- Professional Regulation / Scope of Practice
- Public Health
At this point in the session, the majority of bills have either passed out of one committee, passed one chamber, or are considered dead. Because this is the second year of the 2017-2018 legislative biennium, bills that did not pass out of their committees of jurisdiction before last Friday, did not make the "crossover" deadline, as it is considered too late in the session to debate the proposals properly.
Thank you to all members who have testified and reached out to lawmakers this session. Your dedication to your patients and profession is clear and apparent. Your voice has a real and profound effect on the lives of all Vermonters.
