Advocacy Opportunities Abound at the Statehouse

The VMS is jumping into the 2020 legislative session with all feet, with press events coming up that VMS members are participating in around climate change, gun safety, and vaping. A number of VMS priority bills are now getting introduced and we have already testified (last week) in support of the physician assistant regulatory reform bill , connected with the Senate Education Chair on the Governor's proposed universal afterschool program and on Wednesday afternoon at 1pm we will be participating in a panel discussion at the Green Mountain Care Board on primary care workforce issues. This Thursday morning at 11:45am there will be a press conference in support of two gun violence prevention bills in the Cedar Creek Room at the Statehouse and Dr. Becca Bell will be speaking specifically on suicide prevention. And, of course, planning is in full swing for the VMS Advocacy Day on February 18, which includes a media/advocacy training, a Town Hall Discussion with the Senate President Pro Tem and opportunities to testify in legislative committees in the afternoon. Please register here . Also, please let us know if you would like to attend an event and/or speak on a specific health care policy topic.
