2005 VMS Physician of the Year
Award
For his compassion and ability to help patients in times of medical crisis,
Dr. Allan Ramsay of Essex Junction was presented with the Physician of the
Year Award.
Dr. Ramsay has practiced at Fletcher Allen Health Care's Colchester Family
Practice on Blakely Road in Colchester since 1985. Before that, he treated
patients at the Milton Family Practice from 1980 to 1985. Dr. Ramsay has
been a member of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of
Vermont College of Medicine since 1980, devoting much of his career to the
education of medical students and Family Medicine residents at Fletcher
Allen Health Care.
Dr. Ramsay was nominated for the Physician of the Year Award by the husband
of one of his patients. "Dr. Ramsay is able to provide his patients with
hope and compassion when struggling with a serious disease. He is truly one
of the most competent and caring doctors I have ever met," said the husband.
Dr. Ramsay is the associate chair of the Department of Family Medicine at
the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and is director of the Family
Medicine Inpatient Service at Fletcher Allen Health Care. In addition, he is
the medical director of the Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester.
He received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine
in Atlanta, Ga., and did both his residency and internship in internal
medicine at Emory University. Dr. Ramsay is board certified in internal
medicine and holds a certificate of added qualifications in geriatrics. |
