Vermont Leadership Team

Who We Are

History

The team grew out of two initiatives, a health care provider education initiative led by Blue Cross Blue Shield VT and a CDC funded community assessment project coordinated by the VT Department of Health, Injury Prevention Program. The two groups merged in 2003 to form a statewide leadership team based on the model successfully used by 15 U.S. states in a national project led by the Family Violence Prevention Fund. Many health care practitioners and organizations in Vermont have done important things to raise awareness of intimate partner violence as a health issue and improve health care to victims and survivors. We have created a statewide plan that builds on these efforts and takes them a step further in order to create lasting institutional change.

Mission

It is our mission to improve the health care response to domestic violence in Vermont.

Goals

We will work together to

§    Develop and maintain a statewide collaborative effort that engages a broad range of statewide experts from the health care and domestic violence field.

§    Create and promote a comprehensive statewide plan to bring about improvements. Focus areas will include policy, education, program development, funding development and research.
